SINCE 1996 ... ART began in 1996 in San Diego's North County as a small summer theatre program called "Youth Summerstock Theatre" created by our founding artistic director, Loren Salter. By 2003, the company had grown and evolved, and to reflect that we changed our name to American Rose Theatre.

OUR MISSION...
American Rose Theatre's mission is to create and produce performing arts that serve and educate the community. Our youth arm aims to develop and foster talent in children and young adults who hope to pursue the performing arts in college, and to become working professionals. American Rose Theatre is an award-winning educational 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization theater company.

TODAY ...
ART is a thriving theatre company, providing costumed character actors for special events, Museums and Partys, while continuining to offer educational opportunities to young performers. In 2012, American Rose Theatre had the honor to work with the San Diego Natural History Museum on The Titanic Exhibit, providing costumed actors portraying actual Titanic passengers for the length of the Exhibit. It was a highlight of the Exhibit for many. We termed our actors "Living History". In 2013 and 2014, The San Diego Natural History Museum once again partnered with American Rose Theatre for The Real Pirates Exhibit - in the museum February through September 2014. Visitors to Balboa Park can find our costumed actors portraying historical pirate figures, roaming the Prado as well as the Museum halls. Other recent projects include partnering with Brewery Ommegang and HBO on the San Diego launch of their new Game of Throne beer products, "Fire and Blood". If you have a need for actors who can think on their feet, provide lively historical information and/or witty banter, contact us for more information.

REAL CHARACTERS ...
ART actors have extensive experience on stage, film and TV. They can add just the right flare to your event or project - with strong improv experience, knowledge of history and more. Our actors have worked throughout the country and abroad, including Broadway, Radio City, Disneyland, Legoland, Sea World, The Old Globe, The La Jolla Playhouse, Cygnet Theatre, ion Theatre, Moonlight Stage Productions, Lamb's Players Theatre. Elsewhere they have worked with The Disney Channel, Disney Cruises, and Nickelodeon, as well as feature-length motion pictures and made-for-TV movies, local and national commercials. More important than their impressive resumes - they are professional, pleasant and courteous.
