Li'l Abner - An Original Musical Comedy Li'l Abner – the hilarious Broadway musical, based on the comic strip, featuring song and dance at its best, as our hero, the buff and hunky Abner and curvaceous blonde bombshell, Daisy Mae, struggle to find true love despite of the misbegotten antics of the eccentric hillbillies of Dogpatch pitted against comically corrupt politicians. Featuring beloved comic strip characters like Mammy & Pappy Yokum, General Bullmoose, Evil Eye Fleagle, Apassionata von Kutzie and Marryin' Sam, who leads the hillbilly chorus in the musical's best number, "Jubilation T. Cornpone". With the same music team who created Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Gene de Paul and Johnny Mercer (known for "Moon River", Hooray for Hollywood, You Must have Been a Beautiful Baby) , crafted colorful and classic tunes like "A Typical Day," "If I Had My Druthers," "Namely You," "The Country's in the Very Best of Hands," "Past My Prime," "Put 'Em Back (The Way They Wuz)" and "The Matrimonial Stomp." |
