American Rose Theatre is proud to announce our STAR AWARD HONOREE for 2012: LAURA GARCIA
Laura Garcia has been involved with American Rose Theatre for the past 3 years. She began volunteering in her children’s dance and theater productions; school plays, and found her way to youth and community theater companies. In 2010, she was instrumental in coordinating onsite front of house duties for American Rose Theatre’s “13,” an Assistant Stage Manager for Spring Awakening, and most recent, she was our Production Manager for “Living History”: actors portraying passengers and crew members in the Titanic Exhibit at the San Diego Natural History Museum. She exemplifies the best in theater and life attitudes: She strives to ensure that everyone involved has a quality experience. Because of the professional attitude she brings to everything she does, Laura has become a much in-demand advisor and participant with several arts groups. We would not be the organization we are without the love and commitment Laura brings to ART. |

January , 2012 AMERICAN ROSE THEATRE's SPRING AWAKENING is listed on Jeff Smith's TOP 10 MUSICALS of 2011.
San Diego had quite a year for musicals, among them: the Rep’s Tommy, Cygnet’s Cabaret and Little Shop of Horrors (highlighted by Melissa Fernandes’s wonderful Audrey), Jane Austen’s Emma at the Old Globe, A Chorus Line at San Diego Musical Theatre, Man of La Mancha at the Welk (stellar performance by John Lalond as the errant Don Quixote), Hairspray at Moonlight. And two Spring Awakenings: at San Diego Actors Conservatory Theatre and the American Rose Theatre. Having to single out one is near impossible.

Spring Awakening is one of 14 productions Pat Launer praises, and - along with our friends at ACT San DIego, the only 2 Youth Theater companies mentioned for producing "knockout theater" in 2011.
On a less grand scale, but with enormous ingenuity, 2011 brought us Moxie Theatre’s funny, poignant “Dead Man’s Cellphone,” and two knockout youth theater productions of “Spring Awakening,” from ACT San Diego and American Rose Theatre. Full article
